Welcome to Extras-Casting.net!

People who are extras in movies, plays, videos or commercials, may not shine much in the spotlight, but they’ll definitely be that special dash of color. They are those who participate in the development of the action simply by their physical presence. For example in a bar scene, although in the center of action are only two or three players, there are dozens of people near them that are having fun – those are extras!

Extras do it all: they dance, walk, sing, juggle, skate, bike, or run. So if you want to be casted as an extra, expect to play a versatile part!

Although movie extras do not have lines in the movies, most often they are chosen because they have an expressive face or they have something which attracts the attention of the viewers: maybe weird hairstyles, long ears or even an irresistible look. Their role is to ensure diversity and create a sense of truthfulness. Many drama students are casting as extras in the movies, chance to practice their skills and accommodate to the filming set. Also they gain some money, but not so much because the movie extras are not extremely well paid. The movie extras need some theatrical training and stage presence, enough to know how to make their appearance subtly and with style, based on role requirements.

Interested in becoming an extra? What a soon-to-be movie extra must do: send a CV to a casting agency and if the agency finds the resume appealing, they will call you an interview. They will take a picture of you and fill a form with your weight, height, hair color and age. Once you complete all the necessary information leave in a polite and a pleasant way. If the casting director will like you, be prepared to be called to appear on the filming set. On the set stay in the areas allocated to the movie extras and act as professional as you can. Be sure to have on you several outfits, because the person who takes care of the extras will choose the best one. Also, take something to read because you will need it while waiting.

Here are some useful tips to consider while casting as an extra:

  1. Do not walk through the set, stay where you were placed.
  2. Listen to the instructions and be flexible.
  3. Do not make noises while the camera is shooting, unless you were instructed to do so.
  4. Do not jump in the front of the camera.
  5. Do not disturb the director and do not take pictures of the stars.

So if you want to be part of the movie industry, becoming a movie extra is a great chance to jump start your career and maybe one day you will become a successful movie star! For additional tips on how to succeed, visit us at Extras-Casting.net!
